October 2026 Updates and Shoutouts

Hello neighbors,

Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who came out for Oktoberfest. It was a real hit, with a great turnout and a lot of people having a good time. Special thanks to Jo for all the work she put into pulling it together. Highlights for a lot of folks were the food, the games, the music, the tree team, and the porta potty. Nice job all around.

A couple of notes on the common area. The trucks that came in for setup left some damage to the grass at the entrance. We will not be allowing trucks back there again. Dirt has already been put down to fill the hole, and thank you to Nick for providing the seed. Also a thank you to the neighbors nearby for their patience while that got sorted out.

The condition of the drainage ditches in the common area was brought up as an issue. I went out and cleaned one section to get a better idea of how big a job it would be for us to clear them ourselves. I’ll be working on some of that during the winter.

On the fold-down camper on Abington, it has been moved into the neighbor’s garage, so that matter is considered closed. I will likely hold a meeting with the board over the next month or so to talk through a more formal approach for handling violations in the association.

Jeff has decided to join the board again. We will vote on that at the next meeting. Board members can be added throughout the year, so if you are interested in joining, please let me know.

Brian has been working on collecting the shed signatures. If you live in the southern half of the association and have not signed yet, please answer your door when he comes by. We appreciate the time he is putting into this. I have also contacted the lawyer about creating the instruments for both the sheds amendment and the solar panels amendment, but have not heard back yet. I have not been out collecting more signatures this past month. Camping season wraps up next weekend, so I should be able to get back on that after.

Mark has been working hard on collecting the dues. As of now, 49 homes have not yet paid. Please get those in soon so you can avoid late fees. Mail them to PO Box 15521, Fort Wayne, IN 46885.

Thanks again to everyone who has been pitching in.

Community Octoberfest — Saturday, October 3

Noon to 4 p.m.
Free food, refreshments, games, and a big city tent for shade

Bring the whole family and spend an easy Saturday afternoon together. The city is putting up a large tent so everyone can stay comfortable whether the sun is out or the weather turns. There will be free food and drinks, games for kids and grown-ups, and plenty of space to sit, talk, and enjoy the start of fall.

This is a simple neighborhood gathering—no tickets, no pressure, just a chance to eat something good, play a few games, and catch up with people you see around the Association. Kids can run around, parents can relax under the tent, and everyone can leave with a few new conversations. A great event to catch up with your neighbors or meet new ones!

Come hungry, come comfortable, and come ready to stay a while. We’ll be there from noon until 4. Hope to see you under the tent.
