Meeting Agenda and Minutes
June 3, 2024
- Call to Order and Attendance – 7:05 pm
Present: Dave Koenig, Michelle Smith, Jo Massaro, Dom Massaro, Aaron Barnholt, Marvin Crousore, Brian Lane, Mike Gerbers, Mark Graf.
Absent: Jason Hollinger and Samantha Barnholt
- The minutes of the meeting of March 4th were approved. A request as a matter of good form was to have the minutes respectfully signed by the secretary and then submitted.
- Presidents Report – Dave Koenig. Dave reported about a city program called Fort-ify. It is a city-sponsored program for a handful of neighborhoods whose applications were accepted. The program assists neighborhoods with ideas and support in planning for the future. This year Wedgewood was not accepted for the program, but there is a very good chance that if the city offers Fort-ify again, we should apply.
- Treasurers Report – Aaron Barnholt. He was pleased at the timely responses in the payment of HOA dues. For those outstanding, they have been reached, and we will work with them to be up to date. The budget has been solid, and there should be money available for the upcoming playground project that will be over and above the city grant money. Dave and Aaron met with a Three Rivers associate to continue another 12-month CD.
- Architectural Control – Brian Lane. A number of neighbors have been really good about the submission of an application for alterations. Brian asked that it would be good if neighbors would make the submission well in advance of the work to be performed.
- Playground – Jo Massarro. The city granted Wedgewood $4,000 for the purchase and installation of a merry-go-round. The city will make the purchase, and it will be delivered to Jo’s house. Other costs will be for the rental of equipment to dig the hole. Mulch will have to be purchased, and 60 / 60 lb bags of cement will also be purchased. Two hopscotch courts will be painted on the playground sidewalk. Monday in the Park will commence for little children at 6:30 pm on June 17, weather permitting.
- Finance – There will be a meeting in July for the purpose of putting together a proposed 2024-5 budget. The meeting will take place at 6426 Post Brook, date and time to be announced
- Landscape – There was completion of phase 1 of the front entrance. A tree was taken down, and plenty of old, overgrown shrubbery was removed. Thanks to Michelle Smith, Mike Hyndman, and friends. Phase II will be installing new plants and shrubs in the Spring.
- Old Business – The question came up again regarding having a neighborhood garage sale. May seems to be the peak month for neighborhood garage sales. We had a neighborhood garage sale last July (‘23). Little participation; very little traffic. Tables for this year.
- New Business – Discussion about the homeowners’ responsibility when a lot is backed up to a city easement. Problems persist about neighbors not mowing (which is the responsibility of the homeowner) and dumping yard waste (grass clippings, leaves) in easement areas. What can be done when the system of drainage is no longer effective? There is not a lot that the association can do in these matters. The city needs to get involved, but so far, there has been little response. The matter was tabled for future discussion. Another question was in regard to deteriorating curbing. The city will usually do the work with the homeowner paying 50%.
- The next meeting is the Annual Meeting (including passing a budget and voting on new officers). Monday, September 9, 2024, 7 pm, St. Joe Township Community Hall.
- Meeting Adjournment – 9:02 pm.
Respectfully Submitted,
David Koenig (Acting Secretary)
